Muse
A pen and ink drawing that I did in 2001. It burst out of me in one sitting, without any pencil sketching first, and has remained a personal favourite. I revisited it a couple of years ago in photoshop, cleaned him up a bit, and coloured him. I believe he is my ‘guide’, the protector of my creative energy.
Muse belongs to the following groups:
Art Inspired by Dreams, Atheism, Character Development, Cute-n-Creepy Illustrations, New Zealand Made and Spiritual Art Available for sale asGreeting Cards, Matted Prints, Mounted Prints, Canvas Prints, Framed Prints and Posters

how very nice to have one! make sure his candle doesn’t burn low! love his creative fingers and toes

Thanx soxy – i have to admit I’ve been picking up the pen less often these days, in favour of the mouse – but i think you can see a certain similarity between the ink characters and the digital ones. For example, i think ‘muse’ and ‘fairy’ are cousins…..
Soxy Fleming
don’t give up the pen! you have a geat style…..do both!

That’s the plan … i just need a scanner and one of those tablet thingys that allow you to draw straight onto the computer, then I can combine drawings with photoshop techniques …. you’ll see some crazy shit then!!

WOW!! Awesome work!! ;-)

nice cartooning, it’s also where I first started although I am yet to post any of it on RB and like you, I tend to go for the mouse these days…one thing I’d like to try is digital painting from a ‘paper’ sketch…one of these days..
mistertrooth
absolutely – i want to go there too. A tablet and a scanner are on the shopping list for sure.

You write: “It burst out of me in one sitting, without any pencil sketching first”. That’s how I do all my art actually (hardly ever in one sitting, though – besides the basics). I like it. I like a lot of your work… :-)
mistertrooth replied
yeah it’s a satisfying way to work, but i also enjoy ‘laying the foundations’ so to speak – depends what I’m trying to achieve.

I love the pose….it’s good to know even our muse needs to gaze into a candle flame on occasion, looking for inspiration. Does he swill whiskey while he does so too?! Your work is engaging and unusual – I’m really enjoying looking through it.
mistertrooth replied
Thank you BM .. yeah i like his pose too – kinda expectant but relaxed as well. Not familiar with your work – think I’ll have looksee ;-)

You clever man. Love your etchings Mr T :)

OMG! You´re absolutely right! My image is more on the side of technology versus mankind, on the side of our own doubts regarding the evolution of humanity. But wow! yes! the relationship between the human figure and the candlelight is the same. I find this a bit scary , you know?
But I love this! You have a very unique style, and the character is one of a kind. The whole concept and the execution are superb. Thanks for introducing me to your art.
mistertrooth replied
My pleasure Danilo – I’ve been looking at your stuff for a while now. Yeah – I was also struck by the outgrowth of machinery from your figure’s head, and how that resembled the outgrowth of plant life from mine.

This is so great. It’s spooky and delightful simultaneously. Would make a great T too!
