Doggerel?
I’m fast-approaching our 35th wedding anniversary and hoping that this ‘fate’ will never befall me. But it’s happened to some I know and came to me – unbidden – in a rare moment of insomnia
She believed that you were working late
But no – that first, clandestine date
just marked the end of married life;
the trust, the friendship of your wife.
Years later, maybe, as you mount her
do you believe that planned encounter
traded the loss of your friend?
And was it worth it?
In the end?
