My family went 4wding out in the area surrounding Marysville, (Australia) one of the areas affected by Black Saturday yesterday. I can’t describe the feeling I had as we drove through the area and townships affected. Still 1 year on and these people are still desperatly trying to piece their lives back together again. The devestation was widespread, and seeing it on TV in no way prepares you to the destruction that has been left behind and seeing it in the flesh. Each of these people that are picking up what is left of their lives and moving forward are incredibly strong and brave and tho it doesn’t seem much, have my sincere respect.

Fabulous shot Fiona it really emphasises the devestation in the BW, not much is left up there is there… ,friends of ours lost their property in Kinglake,we visited them six weeks after it happened ……their property was still smouldering……………

  • wow Trudi….have your friends been able to rebuild at all??? the devastation is just so raw and in your face still…it’s quite haunting up there actually. Thanks so much for your comments

fantastic shot, so much depth and atmosphere, my hubby and I knew Marysville quite well, still so hard to grasp what happened.

  • thank you so much Cez I appreciate your wonderful comments. I hope that one day Marysville will get back to it’s beautiful self but I fear that day is a long way off….there is still so much obvious devastion around…it’s incredibly heartbreaking
