Morgan lived with her mother and father happily in a dainty cottage by the sea. On Morgan’s 10th birthday her mother suddenly vanished without a trace. The police searched for her for 2 years but the had no luck. Morgan couldn’t deal with her mother gone. She cried herself to sleep every night. Then, on her 11th birthday, her father disappeared. He had gone out to get bread and never returned. Morgan was left by herself, no-one even knew her father was gone. Her mother had showed her how to cook when she was 9 so Morgan cooked her own meals and never went for help. After 2 weeks, she couldn’t take it anymore. She packed a bag and went walking on a chilly Monday morning.
Her little village was empty. The bakery was shut and the beach was deserted. She walked up the stairs and entered a mysterious looking factory. Inside were huge steel walls. She stayed for 2 days in the first section of the factory. Then she realised how to open the giant steel doors. She got through the factory in 3 days and opened a door made of plastic. Morgan looked through and saw the deck at her house. Her mother was in a cage, screaming, and her father was crying in another cage.
A fiery figure appeared at the end of the deck. Morgan started crying as it approached her.
“Run!” screamed her mother.
Morgan bolted for the beach. She thought she lost him but next thing she knew, he was standing beside her. She stopped running.
“Morgan”, he smirked, “How lovely to see you!”
“Who are you?” weeped Morgan.
“What? Who am I?” laughed the man, “Why, I’m your worst nightmare!”
Morgan started crying again.
“It’s alright Morgan,” cooed her father.
Morgan dried her eyes and the man grabbed her. Morgan didn’t struggle. She allowed the man to take her away. He was surprised so he let her down.
The man ran to his control board. He pressed a black button and a huge red button slid out from under the desk.
“In the morning, I will press this button and a tidal wave will crash over this village and drown you!” he laughed. He twisted a dial on the board and a mysterious purple fog wafted over to the cages.
The next thing Morgan, her mother and father knew, they were lying in a double bed, all squished up together. Morgan stood up and ran over to a door. She bashed on it but it stayed clammed shut. She bent down on her knees and cried. They were trapped in a room. The only things they had were a table, a bed and a microwave. On the microwave was a timer.
“I wonder what that is for?” asked Morgan’s mother.
“That timer,” said a voice from a speaker fixed on the roof, “Is counting down how long you have to live!”
Morgan started inspecting the microwave. She looked deeply into the window and saw an image of the man pressing the ‘CLEAR’ button on the microwave. Morgan pressed it without thinking and the timer paused. The door flung open and they rushed outside onto the deck. The fiery figure was standing there with a look of dismay on his face. A mini tidal wave rushed over him and he disappeared. Morgan hugged her parents and they lived happily ever after.
My Dream
This story is based on a dream I have had a few times now. I am very puzzled about what it means!
