The Voice of One Crying in the Wilderness

The voice of one crying in the wilderness
“REPENT! REPENT!
FOR THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND!”

John the Baptist knew
that he was not worthy
to loose His sandal
that he must decrease
while Christ must increase
that his death was imminent
it didn’t matter
when quiet mouths do we enter a day
without a thank-you
or a word of praise
still greedily taking chunks
of God’s air into our lungs
if we think we are safe
and secure
John spit out this
cold admonishment,
“For I tell you God is able to raise children
to Abraham from these stones!”
(Luke 3:8)

The Voice of One Crying in the Wilderness by

Reading in scripture about the mission of John the Baptist. It brings a cold chill to the soul that we must repent for The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!"

" as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying:
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness;
Prepare the way of the Lord;
Make His paths straight.
Every valley shall be filled
And every mountain and hill brought low;
The crooked places shall be made straight
And the rough ways smooth;
And all flesh shall see the salvation of
God”
Then he said to the multitudes that came out to be baptized by him, "Brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
“Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance,
and do not begin to say to yourselves, “We have
Abraham as our father.” For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from
these stones." (John 3: 4-8)
