It is the reason none of us can sleep

Abortion is a scar over the Land,
a wound over grace
a blemish on our flag
the reason the dream is dying
It is the reason none of us can sleep
A thick mucous of silence unable
to scream
scabbing eyes unable to blink
the blindness of our youth
a tattooed and pierced generation
their desperation unable to touch
our shribbled hands slink back
our stone hearts satisfied
as we delegate execution
miniature babies soaked
in their last drop of life
are baptized in our consent
How can angels not weep?
nor demons laugh?
while the ACLU defends
pornography and the K.K.K.
still denying with venom
an embryo is not a life
a fetus is not a baby
scratching our
conscience,
an incendiary civil war
brews
a buzzing fly we prefer
to chase away until we feel
better
confessing nothing
but eating drinking
our right to be “merry”
our hope to work again
our right to work again
The President promises
But “We don’t hear God’s Word”
nor The Holy Spirit
but we listen to every other
voice to legalize marriages
but no voices to legalize “life”
millions of mouths sewn shut
The NRA with a bombastic belch
has the ear of congress
The conversation, and the arguments
we do not make out of political correctness
The barbed wired fences behind the buildings
next to Save Mart and the dentist
We never look behind the dumpster,
we walk around the stench, to say we didn’t
Know,
nor would we ever permit such a thing
We cried solidarity when the twin towers crashed
in a plume of dark smoke
Swearing the sacredness and sanctity of
American lives
Our Presidents pray, with eyes closed
Shedding tears that God won’t comfort
The Shame we excuse,
As if unwanted children are an enemy to destroy
And children that are mistakes are deserving of
Brutal torture
The Blood this nation drinks everyday
Is the witchcraft and the heresy of a false Christ
No wonder we love vampires and zombies,
We glorify death as our national pastime
As a necessity,
For 40 years there has been no sanctuary
For those not yet born,
Criminals have rights,
And appeals
Animals have a right not to be treated cruelly
People protect the earth as a mother
But no one protects those not yet born
Women have a right to not be pregnant
And men a right not to be fathers.
But a progeny has been denied the right
To be born
We hate the torture in Guantanamo
But think nothing of mutilating our own
We pay for murder
And demure our eyes,
From the mess around us
The land has been deprived of rain
Because it is soaked with blood
The land can find no healing
No compromise,
Its valleys run red with sin
Our rivers are polluted with it
Everything is dying
Birds fall from grace
Fish stinking in unholy water
Our hands are not clean
Discarding of millions of tiny
Bodies
Stabbing them with scissors
Until they are dead
Scalping them to take out
what we can sell
What would Jesus call us?
On Sundays we park our cars
Outside of buildings with crosses
But there is no Redemption
For those who will not repent
What would John The Baptist
Cry out from the wilderness
With a voice still heard
And the martyrs under the altar
Crying out “How Long O’Lord?”
Will they tear the teeth and the eyes
We condemned Hitler for killing the Jews
And the disabled, and all of the gypsies,
Stalin sickened us with his gulags,
And Pol Pot and Idi Amin monsters
The doctors and the nurses with scalpels
And a cup of coffee
break thousands of spinal cords before lunch
These are our friends
Our president talks about a Constitution
A Constitution that would condemn millions
To death
isn’t worth the paper it is written on
We call the terrorists the “bad guys”
Fighting them for our freedom
Fighting them to preserve our way of life
“To commit genocide?”
Every government fights for its values
But a government that condemns its weakest to die
Is not a cause worth fighting for
Every eye is red with insomnia
A nation cannot sleep
Every hand wipes its face
To leave a blood stain
We take our children’s hands
to pass on the curse
We cry out for the right to tote
Guns to protect ourselves
No gun will protect us from
The Wrath of a Holy God

Artist's Description

I wrote this in the aftermath of the Boston marathon bombings. It made me think of the millions of babies aborted. It sickened me when President Obama said, “we need to pray.” Is he praying for the 50 million aborted? When he defends a woman’s right to murder her child? I am very sorry and mourn with the victims of Boston, but that is nowhere near the victimization and the murder of what our government has legalized and called abortion. Since 1973, our government under Roe v. Wade, gave a woman the right to terminate her pregnancy for any reason all the way up until the abortionist can pull a baby out of her in pieces. The latest horror in Philadelphia shows the gratuitous murder of what abortion has come to mean. God will not bless a nation that murders its unborn. Not now not ever Until a nation repents, God does not hear the prayers of those who regard iniquity in their hearts.

This was a comment on the Yahoo article Arkansas 12 week abortion ban.

One of the comments:
Fact #1: Every abortion kills an innocent human being.
Fact #2: Every human being is a person.
Fact #3: Beginning at conception, every pregnancy involves two or more bodies.
Fact #4: It is just, reasonable, and necessary for society to outlaw certain choices.
Fact #5: The right to not be killed supersedes the right to not be pregnant.
Fact #6: Poverty, rape, disability, or “unwantedness” do not morally justify abortion.
Fact #7: The differences between embryos and adults are differences of degree not of kind.
Fact #8: Less than 1% of all abortions are performed to save the life of the mother.
Fact #9: To be only “personally pro-life” is to not be pro-life at all.
Fact #10: If there is uncertainty about when human life begins, the benefit of the doubt should go to preserving life.
Fact #11: Abortion is more dangerous than childbirth.
Fact #12: Prior to abortion’s legalization, 90% of abortions were done by doctors, not by “coat hangers in back alleys.”
Fact #13: The 8 week+ unborn baby feels real physical pain during an abortion.
Fact #14: Abortion is condemnable for the same reasons that slavery and genocide are.
Fact #15: Abortion is not a “women’s only” issue.
Fact #16: Every legal surgical abortion stops a beating heart and terminates measurable brain waves.
Fact #17: The right to not be killed supersedes the right to privacy.
Fact #18: Abortion disproportionally targets minority babies.
Fact #19: Abortion has become a form of gendercide, shrinking the global female population at an alarming rate.
Fact #20: Laws concerning abortion have significantly influenced whether women choose to have abortions.
