Self Control

Self Control

My self portrait final for my Drawing II class. This took me a looooong time. I was up till 7am Wednesday night to finish this piece!

Chalk pastel pencils & sticks, charcoal, white Rives BFK archival paper.

My face is supposed to be dollish and unrealistic. Too bad a lot of the details are lost on here, maybe I will post links to detail shots later.

I’m quite happy with this piece and I got an 97% =]

    amazing
    you deserved a 105 not a 97

  • Aisha Diandra replied

Aw that’s sweet. Well I’ve heard the prof is not the easiest grader, so I’ll take a 97 as a good thing. I’m taking him again next semester for life drawing, so expect more drawings, maybe!

Excellent concept and a brilliant way of Self portrait. SP is not a mere portrait, it should reflect the personality and this does. The controlled wings….. are thought provoking.

Don’t worry about the missing 3%. Actually, that’s not the mark that you missed but the deviation ibetween your master’s expectations on you and your art.

    Great work.

  • Aisha Diandra replied

Thank you very much. Actually I wasn’t too worried about the 3%, the 97% was the highest grade I ever got in that class!

oh my god i love this so much!!! seriously! i wish i could buy this from you. you have awesome skills.

  • Aisha Diandra replied

Ooh thank you. I’m in a personal debate about whether or not I want to sell the original. Hehe.

  • Brinaka N.

    Brinaka N.

i’m the same way with my art, each is a personafication of who i was or how i felt at the time. it’s hard to put a price on that, or even part with it. More or less, you feel as you’ve sold a genuine part of your self.

  • Aisha Diandra replied

Yeah. I’m more of a photographer in which case I don’t have a problem with selling my photos because it’s just a print, not an original piece that can’t be easily duplicated.

So 3% of this is wrong?! Id like to meet that person and ask about that 3%!! Was it still wet hehe!!
Maybe it wasnt framed!! Would they knock off marks for that?
Anyway enough about that. Its a beautiful piece of work!! Congratulations and I look forward to seeing more!!

  • Aisha Diandra replied

Well it looks better in the small version I guess. In its full size you can find more flaws!
But thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.
