Neurosis I

Neurosis I

Another self-portrait for my photography final, “Fragmented Self-Image”.

I think the idea is pretty obvious…I used to have an eating disorder, I don’t any more, but the mentality that I need to stay thin and fit still remains and this is my interpretation of that.

To post this alone takes me a lot of courage because I am still very, very uncomfortable with my body.

Neurosis I belongs to the following groups:

thanks. It’s always hard to post really personal things because you feel obligated to explain the concept for the viewers, which means you have to reveal the truth.
I’m actually a bit nervous about my photo presentation tomorrow because I’ll have to reveal this part of me to the whole class.

In a way it has. I’ve been in denial of my issue for YEARS, and doing this is sort of my way of admitting to it and revealing it I guess, which is always the first step!

I think Art in its most powerful form is Art that has been wrenched from the soul to make an very emotive and potent social statement, and you have definitely achieved that with this brilliant image!
