Photoprinter - any advices?
I am currently thinking about buying a photoprinter. Deciding between Epson and Canon, as they are apparently the best. I do not have many tough criteria – just want the prints to last, the machine not to cost arm and leg, print size A4 is just about fine. But I am still unsure of how many ink cartridges the thing should have or which of the brands will have better performance. BW printing is not an issue, as I do not expect to print other than colour images.
I wonder if anyone would be willing to share their experiences with some printers from Epson or Canon? It would help me to pick one :)

Awesome photos with Epson Stylus R380 using Hi Definition Ink, professional like photographs. I’m more than pleased with this printer. Did photos for Christmas and everyone thought I had them professionally done! Good luck on your search! :-)

Go for Canon photo printer. Have a word with my friend Dennis before you go for. This will work for you :)

I have no experience with Canon printer – they do have a good reputation. With that being said, I’ve always used Epson printers.

That makes 4:1 for Epson. However, from all my current research on this topic, I have read that Epson uses normally more colour when printing than Canon. And that Epson tends to have problems with dirty ink heads. What is your experience on this?

At the moment I don’t actually own a printer, but I received advice from a professional photographer friend of mine (who owns an Epson printer) and he said that if I was considering buying, that I shouldn’t get anything except Epson because the quality is much better.

I have an HP Photosmart…....blah! It’s not brilliant and the ink is very expensive. Good to hear the advice here too. When it eventually dies I will certainly look at Epson.

Seems Epson is the winner, hmm :) Thanks to everyone who shared their experience. I will certainly let you know later, what I´ve got and how it prints!
