Spreading the word - Bushfire Appeal

I’m spreading the word about the Phoenix Appeal set up by the lovely Anne. It’s for Bushfire relief – after the awful few days we have had over here.

Anyway I’ve donated a couple of shots. They’re not necessarily related to fire but best sales/views shots. If you feel like doing the same here’s some info

Thanks so much for taking the time to read this

Back to the 'real' world!

Hey everyone

Well my wonderful year off for writing & generally being wifely (i was better at the writing!) has come to an end….i’ve been offered a job, starting tomorrow, back in a similar field to what i was doing in the UK.

I had such a great time, found out what it meant to me to be a writer, discovered RB, met all you lovely lot, did lots of writing, tried cooking, got a personal trainer, took lots of fishy photos, wrote some more….anyway it’s been excellent. Much love & thanks to my hubby for supporting me…he now wants to take a year off to play golf!!… and much love & thanks to all you wonderfuly supportive people…i wouldn’t be where i am now if it wasn’t for you :)

So I’m still going to be around on RB, still …

And some non-nano stuff!

Thanks so much to Short Stories Group for featuring my piece Venus which i wrote for Pulp Noir’s Character Challenge
Really made my day today as I raced towards the nano finish line! Thanks to the lovely Kate & Damian who host Short Stories :)

Also I ordered a bunch of my own calendars to check out what the look like. The calendar quality is excellent, i’m well impressed!

Happy Bubbles was so nice, the photos look good and the Titles are in the corner of each month, the summary on the back cuts off the edges of each shot (much like the snapshot view on your activity monitor) but that doesn’t matter too much.

Miri’s Twisted Shorts was my go at getting writing onto a calendar using myy 250 word weekly Star Twisters…and it looks great! 250 words reads well…

NaNoWriMo update 4

Yay!!!! I’ve done it. I’m a winner ;)

I’ve got the little web badge thingy but no idea how to put it in here….technology fails me again…actually that should probably read … i fail technology again!

But anyway I reached 50,130 words in my nanowrimo project. Even managed to finish the story, well the 1st book anyway…after all it is a fantasy so deserves at least a trilogy!

I’m going to leave it for a couple of weeks and come back to it with fresher eyes and edit, tweak, balance it out, snip out redundant plot lines, rewrite the really bad bits and see how it turns out.

Thanks so much to everyone who’s read & commented & supported me. It means an awful lot to me :)

And to all my nano friends, best of luck in the last few days!!!

NaNoWriMo update 3

I’ve just reached the half way mark!!!! 25k words…how excited am I!

The plot is thundering along, the characters are surprising me, there’s been some truly excruciating ahem love scenes but at least no ‘throbbing members’ have turned up…yet

I’m actually enjoying this :)

Really really hope I can get to the 50k by the end of Nov….I suspect the actual story will need more, but just to have written 50k will be great!

…..Though I already feel like a winner in many other ways…for instance I’ve convinced my other half that word output is directly proportional to chocolate intake…and what can I say, he’s a good provider ;)

Thanks again for listening, reading, commenting & supporting…it is much appreciated!!

Sugar High Overall Winner

Sugar High Overall Winner

Sugar High has been a great challenge and great fun. The results were so close that it came down to the last vote to decide the grand champion.

CONGRATULATIONS JASTOFFER

Jastoffer’s story 100 Caramel Apples was voted the winner, bringing the Short Stories Group the crown and glory for the groups.
The Runner-up was Damian’s The Exuberance of Youth, ensuring"WMG":http://www.redbubble.com/writers-market received second place for the groups.

Well done guys. Thanks to everyone who entered and voted in this competition. You have all made this multi-group challenge a wonderful success.

NaNoWriMo update 2

Well I’ve reached my target for the end of today (Fri Wk1) of 15k words, yay! Thanks so much to all of you who are reading & commenting & being generally lovely.

True, I’ve hit some cliches (I had to edit out a “we’re all doomed!” speech) and exhausted the thesaurus for the word ‘suddenly’ (any new words meaning ‘suddenly’ gratefully received!) but overall I’ve enjoyed the first week.

It’s a completely different way of writing for me and I have to say I’m rather liking it (you can quote me on that in wk4!). You see I know, for example, that I can describe a jog in a park, what I don’t know is if I can segue that jog into a fight that links back to Chapter 1 and leaves clues for the rest of the story.

So …
