Jean Pierre Dieu-Donne

Through the years, I have heard many heartwarming dog stories, yet I never grow tired of them. One of the most endearing types is the story about dog and owner who seem to have been linked together by the Divine mind. Such was the case of Anita and Jean Pierre Dieu-Donne.
Anita adored Pomeranians and desperately wanted to buy one. Her father, however, reminded her that they came with a handsome price tag. Such a pet was beyond the family budget, and Anita would have to settle for something else. Settle, however, she would not. She took the matter to her other Father, the One in Heaven, and asked Him to send her a Pomeranian. After all, He knew everything. Nothing was too hard for Him, and Anita reminded Him of that during her six-month stint in prayer for her dream dog.
One day her father, the earthly one, came home from the high school where he worked and announced that there had been an unusual visitor to his industrial arts class that morning. The visitor was friendly, bright-eyed, red-haired. Short and somewhat fox-like in his features, the visitor was, of all things, a Pomeranian!
Dared Anita get her hopes up? Was this the dog from Heaven? Anita’s earthbound dad ran an ad in the local newspaper, made numerous phone calls, and asked around, but no one claimed the perky little canine. Weeks later, the dog remained unclaimed, and it became evident that the pooch was clearly an answer to prayer.
Jean Pierre Dieu-Donne, (French for given by God), became a member of the household. Today, six years after the fact, Pierre continues to be a blessing to Anita and her entire family. The peacemaker of the family, he cries and yelps when people raise their voices, and he even positions himself between those who seem to be at odds with each other. A little bridge builder in miniature, Pierre has proved to be worthy of his title “Gift of God.” Now, he even has extended family, people who have fallen to his charms and have been captivated by his aura. And all because one little girl dared to take her request to the Lord and waited expectantly till He delivered the goods.
