I found it amusing to watch these four youngsters, little blue heron chicks, interacting with each other in the nest. When mom was away in search of food, they definitely entertained each other. Here they seem to be engaged in a lively squawking match. Unlike the adult blue herons, the chicks are solid white. It’s really funny to see them flapping their developing wings and fighting for top spot in the nest, especially when Mom arrives with dinner. I took this photo at Jefferson Island, Louisiana, in Iberia Parish.
