I took this photo of a brown pelican at Grand Isle, Louisiana, last year during happier, more carefree times. I’m posting this image as an ongoing plea for prayers that solutions will be found as soon as possible to end this oil spill and to clean up the resulting devastation.

What a beautiful expression on this bird’s face, and what a beautiful bird. So many times I’ve seen them on posts like this. You could also call it “Pelican’s Rest”. He looks flattered that you are taking his picture. I swear that bird is smiling. You’re like a second St. Francis! :-)) I’ll have to start calling you Francesca!
You are too beautiful to forget! I’m praying…
I continue to pray for a speedy solution to this problem. This is such a lovely and heartwarming image, Bonnie! Just beautiful!
im worried with this issue, things will become the “norm” and people just dont pay attention to what is going on down there. they arent even close to stopping this oil from flowing, almost 200 MILLION!!! gallons of oil is just pouring into the habitats and affecting the people’s lives. this is something that should be slapping everyone in the face on a daily basis to keep everyone aware that it is Still a problem!
this is a beautiful shot, just be thankful you have it
Aww… this is a very poignant image Bonnie. Let’s hope it doesn’t take too long to get the view back to this. Although with the problem still active there’s no way of knowing how far off this will be.
It’s heartbreaking to see, even from afar..Prayers for full recovery from this tragedy.
