I’ve seen lots of bird nests in my life, but I’ve never seen one with eleven eggs in it! Most songbirds lay about five or six eggs per clutch. I read that Carolina chickadees can lay up to eight eggs, but this female has gone into overdrive with one shy of an even dozen! I wonder if two females did not inhabit the box. The nest has been built for quite some time but had no eggs. When this little Mama decided to go to work, she really decided to give it her all! And just in time for Easter! What a basket of abundance in celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection!
