This Eastern Phoebe is very shy and elusive, seldom showing itself. I got a rare glimpse of it when it perched briefly on my patio and was able to get this shot. Phoebes are loners, male and female living in isolation from each other. They are members of the flycatcher family. Eastern Phoebes breed north of the Mason Dixon line in North America; this Phoebe is wintering in Louisiana. I see it in the thickets behind my house; however, it does draw closer to my house to splash in the bird bath on occasion.
