My husband and I took a ride to the coast yesterday to visit Grand Isle, Louisiana, which is a barrier island in Jefferson Parish sandwiched between the Gulf of Mexico and Barataria Bay. This is a shot of the marshlands which are typical of the region’s terrain in the extreme southeastern part of the state. It was a stormy day in which we dodged one torrential shower after another. I took this photo along Highway 1, the only access to Grand Isle.

This is really pretty! I love the contrast of the green grass against the blue sky—everything just pops! Beautiful!

  • This is just the way it looked in real life; sky and light were very cooperative with my efforts to capture the moment. Thanks for your kind comments.

Bonnie, beautifully composed piece. I love the little tiny tree on the right, it gives some perspective as to the wide open spaces. Love those clouds!!

  • Thanks so much, Carolyn, for your keen observation. Most would miss that little tree; glad you saw it and commented on how it gives a sense of expansiveness here.

Beautiful capture Bonnie love the clouds! …and it looks like this for miles and miles :)
It is very beautiful down there!

  • Thanks so much, Joni. The wetlands are in such danger now; I pray a lot for public awareness and response to saving them.

Miles & miles of solitude and on a clear night, masses of stars…….
    Lovely image, Bonnie.

  • Thanks so much, Jesika. The overriding thought that came to me while traveling the long, long stretch of road which is Highway 1 to the Gulf was the trepidation people from the area must have when forced to evacuate for a hurricane. It’s a beautiful but very vulnerable region. We enjoyed the day so much in spite of the storms and the lengthy drive.
