Memorial Day was owl day at Lake Martin; we saw them everywhere during the mid morning hours, and they were quite accommodating for the camera lady. Here is one fine owl looking curiously at me.

What a beauty to capture, Bonnie… I love the way the light is highlighting the feathers… Lovely photo.

  • The owl was perched on a branch in dappled sunlight; it was lovely to see this usually nocturnal creature in full daylight.

  • Thanks, Noelene; the barred owl is beautiful; his feathers remind me of striped ribbons.

What a handsome owl and no wonder he is looking at Bonnie the Bird Lady with such interest! He’d have felt neglected had you not added his photo to your beautiful portfolio!!! ;o)))

  • Thanks to my husband Tommy who spotted three barred owls within a ten minute period of time, I was able to try my hand at photographing these lovely creatures. Tommy, by the way, was also driving our vehicle at the same time. My hands and eyes were free, but I would have missed it all; how does he do that? Thanks for the kind words, Krys. Had to give Tommy credit!

    What a delightful portrait Bonnie.

  • Thank you, Carolyn; there’s something enchanting about an owl. Love those big bold eyes that stare so serenely, so curiously.
