When I first looked at this picture I took of an eagle flying away from a limb, I thought about the letter V for Victor and the famous quote, “To the Victor belong the spoils.” That phrase is very apropos to the eagle as the same day I took this shot, I took another one of an eagle with a raccoon in its talons. It was feeding on its prey when it was surrounded by ten very large turkey vultures or buzzards. Though the eagle was outnumbered by birds very near its own size, the eagle prevailed and the buzzards tasted not a morsel of the raccoon. They knew who was king and they let the king eat in peace. Truly, the Victor got the spoils!
I thought this image might be just right for somebody who’s been victorious and is celebrating that victory with the rewards of the “battle” that’s just been won.
