Artist's Description

I had never seen one of these until today. I found it near my “bird house” where I take bird photos. With help from my insect genius friend Jesika, I was able to identify this beauty as a Cecropia Moth, also known as a silk moth which is the largest in North America. I measured this one, wing tip to wing tip was over 7 inches. I read that this moth in its adult stage has only about two weeks to live as it doesn’t eat and lives only to reproduce. I also read that it is rarely seen as it flies only at night. I consider this a gift from God.
