Silent Night in the Deep South
It was a quiet Christmas for my husband and me, the first one we’ve spent alone in our 35 years of marriage and 58 years of life. We spent the last daylight hours of our Savior’s birthday at Lake Martin, in St. Martin Parish, Louisiana, and this is the scene we viewed. I’ve named it Silent Night in the Deep South, a quiet ending to a quiet and peace-filled day.

When the glassy stillness of a lake at dusk reflects a cloudless winter sky and the warm glow of the horizon at sunset, one can’t help but feel peace and tranquility. You and your remarkable camera have captured forever the magnificence of this special “Silent Night” ~ perfect caption! Truly exceptional, Bonnie!

Great image and story behind the image! That empty nest will be filled soon with the many things you always wanted to do but never had the time! LOL
Lake Martin is a wonderful magical place. I had an exhibition at a museum in Sulphur Louisiana and the day I went down to do the install I paddled Lake Martin for the first time.
I have returned many times in the two years since and always find interesting subjects.

The sunset is absolutely beautiful – as some have said “a perfect way to end the day.” Better yet is your statement “the last daylight hours of our Savior’s birthday.” Thanks for acknowledging Him for without His birthday, we would not have The Resurrection, the greatest of all God’s gifts!
