Splendor in the Grass and Glory in the Flower

In Ode, Intimations of Immortality from Reflections of Early Childhood, William Wordswoth wrote:

Though nothing can bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower
We will grieve not, but rather find

I was reminded of those lines when I saw a single blade of grass that had gone to seed and was blooming deep in the woods. The tiny flowers were a sight to behold.

I’m overwhelmed by the response to this photo. After uploading it, I changed my mind and thought I should remove it. When I had time to get back to the computer to delete the image, I was shocked to see the numbers of comments it had received, all of them favorable! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all who took the time to leave a kind word and a show of support. Moral of the story: some of the things in life we want to discard may actually be treasures in disguise if we just give them a chance!
