Help me make it through the night

Help me make it through the night

Mother and child Great Blue Heron as night falls . . . I thought of the song, “Help me make it through the night” while I worked on this piece.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t give my husband Tommy credit for this photo. He saw the mother and child as he was driving in St. Mary Parish. He pointed them out to me, turned the vehicle around, and positioned the truck so I could get this shot. Without his keen eyes, I would have missed this endearing scene. Thank you, Tommy; I couldn’t do it without you!

Gorgeous image and treatment! Perfect title with so much emotion. I just love the colors and how the birds seem to be protected by the framing of the trees!

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

And I just love when people see things I hadn’t observed. I appreciate your thoughtful insights, Joni.

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

Thank you, Sharon; when I looked at the playback image in my camera, I said the same thing to my husband; “It looks like a painting.” I added some textures to enhance that effect and I’m so happy with your comment as it affirms what I was trying to achieve. God bless!

marvelous! It has so much feeling in it. Good for Tommy’s sharp eyes! :) So many times Robert sees something before I do, even when he’s the driver…fun to work together…

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

Donna, you and I share the same joy of going on little excursions with our spouses in search of that hidden treasure awaiting discovery. May you and hubby enjoy many more such outings and keep sharing your findings with us. Life is at its best when we can enjoy simple things like this. Glad we can “compare notes.” Thanks so much for your input.

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

Thank God indeed for my sweet husband Tommy of 38 years; he is the person who surprised me with my first DSLR camera. I didn’t even want one, but somehow he knew I’d love this hobby. He has since gifted me with more and more equipment and he is my personal “chauffeur” as we strike out regularly in search of “the find” of the day! Thanks for commenting, Karen; I appreciate it and I’m so happy you made note of my husband’s important role in my life.

Oh, yes, I looooove to dance. And although my bones are starting to hurt, if I hear music, any kind I will get on my feet and start dancing. I’ll make all kinds of moves, even though they may not be the latest, but I’ll move, make up some steps along the way or try to copy others. Next day, I’m with Tylenol or something, but it was worth it. Five i put because of my five kids. But that photo is moving and it has a calming effect. Am sure glad you got it and your husban for seeing and for having the patience of letting you take a shot. Keep up the good work.

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

Tommy has saved the day more than once! I recall a few weeks ago when he insisted I go to the hospital and I didn’t want. He’s got a keen eye alright and a wise heart! I might not have been on Planet Earth to capture these herons without dear Tommy! We both have wonderful husbands and we are blessed! Thanks, St. Claude for your kind words.
