Mild mannered Mr. Grosbeak
I’m amazed at how docile these large rose-breasted grosbeaks are in comparison to most wild songbirds. I was pretty close to this fellow and though he couldn’t see me, he could surely hear the click of the camera, but he didn’t flinch. I watched his mate feeding for about thirty minutes; she’d nibble a bit, pause, daydream, look all around her, nibble again, pause, daydream . . . She was so restful and peaceful. I’ll miss the grosbeaks when they head north which should be any day now. I’ll have to wait until next fall or next spring for the migration to catch a glimpse of them again.

He’s gorgeous Bonnie…lovely detail
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks so much, Lyn. I’m trying hard to stay on task this morning (cleaning house) but I made the mistake of looking out the window and saw Mrs. Bluebird with nesting materials in her beak. Alas, the mopping got delayed and I followed my heart to the birds. Now I’m trying to get back on track! Sorry I’m digressing! Thank you for your kind words and for always being so supportive of my meanderings in life!

A fine gent he is, Sandy! I’ll miss his debonair presence when he departs, probably before the month’s over. Thank you for sharing my enthusiasm for these wonderful wild birds.

Bonnie, your description of how the female Grosbeak was eating, sounded like me! I watch the birds while I eat, it’s good for the digestion! Gorgeous image, love these birds! Dee
Bonnie T. Barry replied
I hope Ms. Grosbeak joins you for lunch someday; you’d love her. She is such a woolgatherer! Thank you for the humor and for the mental image of you at lunch. I think us bird lovers have a lot in common! Happy digesting!
Krys Bailey
Stunning capture, Bonnie, and of course we’d expect no less from you! The detail on those difficult blacks is awesome!! Such a pretty bird – hope they fly past your place again next year! ;o)
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks so much, Krys. I haven’t seen the rose-breasted grosbeaks today, so I think the gorging feast yesterday was in preparation for their long flight. I’m glad I could be hostess of their hostel on the long journey.

House work will ALWAYS be there. Once the dust is a foot deep, you don’t notice it. Of course your daddy might lose his best shoes….........
A beautiful birdie, Bonnie and a perfect portrait

Jesika, the thought of Daddy’s super glued shoes in a foot of dust got me giggling so much I almost choked! You know how to make me laugh! The phone rang in the middle of my guffaws, and I had a tough time getting composed enough to say hello! Thanks; it was a cleansing moment! (Inner cleansing; the exterior dust remains!) Thanks for the comments and for being a pal always. And thanks for remembering Daddy.
