Hover Craft
I love the website “Whatbird.com” because it not only describes each bird but also provides an audio clip of its song. The “song” of a hummingbird sounds more like the whirring of an engine or some kind of alien hovercraft than an actual song! I never tire of watching these energetic little feather balls hovering, sometimes only inches away from me!

Thanks so much, Carolyn! I love your new photo; you’re quite a stunning lady!
jesika
How wonderful to see these tiny jewels flying, hovering , feeding in your own garden.
I’m inviting myself to tea!
jx
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Tea it is, Jesika! And plan to stay a month! Wouldn’t that be so much fun! Thanks for the kind words. I think “tiny jewels” is a very apropos description of these hummers!
Krys Bailey
Perfect Bonnie! I’ve only ever met these hummers in Peru and was gobsmacked!!! Superb capture, dear friend! More please!!! ;o)
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Krys, thanks a million for enriching my vocabulary and my life! I had to google “gobsmacked” because I had no clue what it meant. Here’s what I found! Thanks again for the enrichment!

LYN EVANS
What a shot Bonnie….fabulous capture.
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks a million, Lyn. I’ve been having a ball watching the hummingbird, and I think he’s kind of enjoying watching me. He comes very close to the blind where I hide and hovers. In fact, when I looked at a very enlarged version of his eye, I could see the camouflage reflection of my blind in it! We’re on pretty good terms; I provide the food; he gives me photo ops!
Jan Piller
Whoa!! how perfect is this shot!! Everything about it is perfect! The light is perfect, the exposure, perfect, the composition, perfect, the subject, perfect. Gheesh – some people just like to show off….... (LOL!!)
Bonnie T. Barry replied
You know, Jan, I think Susan Boyle has gotten the whole world “dreaming the dream” and we’re all pumped up to belt out our “songs!” You blew my socks off with your doves last night; what a joy to view those; I’m waiting for MORE! God bless and thanks for being a friend!
Jan Piller
Wasn’t she good!!?? I think I’ve watched the video about 20 times now!
Bonnie T. Barry replied
I’m wearing out my speakers listening to her singing that stirring song from Les Miserables! My husband and I were crying together last night. It’s a Cinderella story we all needed in the world right about now, and I’m too happy to see her finally getting her glass slipper! And sure hope there’s a kiss to go with it soon, too. May the world never corrupt her; she’s a reminder to us all to be authentically ourselves!
Jan Piller
No kidding – I love stories like that!
jinney
Gosh…noise contoll!!

-jinney
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks, Jinney! I take that you checked out whatbird.com and listened to this little squeaker’s “voice!” I appreciate your response and enthusiasm and love that humor!
Maria Dryfhout
A perfect moment in time… such energetic little birdies.
The bloom color matches the bird’s neck area. That is what caught my eye first…
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Maria, I don’t think I even noticed that! I was so busy trying to get this little jet to slow his engines and give me a shot at him that nothing else registered! Thanks for the keen eye and for something I can always count on from you, a unique and refreshing point of view!
Barry Norton
Simply wonderful Bonnie
Bonnie T. Barry replied

Hahaha, Bonnie! I have an US email pal who is always baffled by my English language!!! ;o) Maybe I should go over to the US to teach modern English, rofl! ;o)))
Bonnie T. Barry replied
I’m constantly amazed at the “English” that is spoken on both sides of the pond. Sometimes we seem to be speaking different languages! Glad to have the enrichment, though; keeps the language growing in a healthy fashion.

Oh Bonnie, very precious. You captured him so well!
I was shooting the finches yesterday, when a hummer flew in to my feeder. I love listening to their wing beats. I got a photo, but not as good as this here!! I’ll email to you.
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks for the email photo, Kimberly, and for the lively correspondence. You are a great teacher, always introducing me to something new and challenging and always doing it in such a kind, gentle patient way! You’re a true friend! Keep the pictures and the email messages coming!

Wow ! beautiful colours and capture lovely work :-))
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Thanks so much, Trudi! I appreciate your feedback and support.
CherilynJoy
Wow, Bonnie! Such a great capture and I love the balance of red in the shot.
Bonnie T. Barry replied
Hummingbirds, I’ve heard, are drawn to red, so when I replaced a flower bed devastated by a past hurricane, I made sure there were bird-loving, butterfly-loving plants there. I think my landscape consultant got it right because the hummers are loving this bottlebrush and hope the butterflies will, too! Thanks again for the kind comments.
