Lady Redbird

Lady Redbird

A female Northern cardinal lit for a split second, allowing me to take this shot. More wary than most songbirds, the cardinal is skittish and alert and difficult to photograph at close range.

Lady Redbird belongs to the following groups:

Perfection, Bonnie!!!! I love it. xo

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

Thank you, Lori! The cardinals had disappeared from sight after the summer hurricanes, so I’m thrilled they’re back in numbers. Lady Redbird is a welcome sight for me and so are your kind words always.

Thanks so much, Glenna. It’s always amazing to see these creatures up close and personal. Every feather is a work of art! And I’m so blessed to be able to see that through the lens!

Wow, looks like you were right next to her…such excellent detail in the eye and feathers!
    Love this!

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

I was sitting in my blind just a few feet away. She was wary and didn’t give me much time. I think cardinals see and hear better than most of the smaller songbirds so they are more skittish and evasive. I was happy to get this shot. Thanks for the encouragement, Joni.

She is so sweet! Love her top knotch (or is it crest).... so cute!

  • Bonnie T. Barry replied

I love when the crest is standing tall at attention! Lady Redbird posed so beautifully for me. I couldn’t help but wonder, “Could this be Teensy?” I notice there is one little female who is less skittish than the others. Maybe it is Teensy and she remembers the blind. Wouldn’t that be amazing? Thanks for leaving a kind word, Kimmie.
