Great Blue Skimmer
Dragonflies are fascinating insects. I get the distinct impression that they are curious about humans and Great Blue Skimmers in particular seem to linger at my approach, popping every which way, those little heads that look like they’re wearing motorcycle helmets. After I gain their trust, they will let me get very close to them and pose so graciously for the camera. Several have even accepted an invitation to climb aboard my finger for a ride. Only the female Great Blue Skimmers have done this so far, though. This male was very still as I clicked away, but he declined the offer of a ride on a human hand.
