I love the shine in her eyes – her face has a look a trepidation but her eyes are alive and excited. You have captured an amazing look.

Great painting. The look of apprehension in her eyes is fantastic. Love the red curtains and the flowy hair is lovely.

Yasue, you’ve managed to create not only a remarkably beautiful self portrait but to put into it so much expression and emotion as well. Very moving, fascinating and so gorgeous~as is its subject.

lovely… and very intense! the play of colors on her face makes me ‘feel’ the soft pale skin reflecting the hues of red from the cutain.

Those eyes are amazing; they really stand out! I wonder if your influence came from the Japanese “gyokugan” technique for making eyes in a buddha statue . Sometimes the eyes in a buddha statue are so realistic they seem to be staring down at you. It can be scary; particulary if the eyes had a piercing shape. I remember watching “Kaguya Hime” when I was little, and in the scene when the buddha’s cup was stolen, the buddha’s eyes suddenly opened. That scene was a bit creey but I enjoyed it anyways. But in this case they look gentle and express wander.
