Great Uncle Leo
First Place in the Oddly Fantastic Challenge in the Woman Photographer Group – Thank You Hosts and Members!
Searching through the attic the other day, I found this old photograph of my Great Uncle Leo. Even though he had a certain gruff exterior, he was a real pussycat. He used to chase all the grandkids around the backyard, and when he caught them, he would playfully rub his muttonchops whiskers against their cheeks. He would then roar with laughter at their squeals and giggles.
He absolutely loved eating fish, and was an absolute connoisseur when it came to tuna, herring and sardines. Not much fun for us kids, as he served us these fishy delicacies without so much as a potato or other vegetable as accompaniment. The most memorable thing was that we would always be served a huge glass of milk for supper. I always remember him looking as though he was the ‘cat that got the cream’ as he sat curled up on the sofa as he bid us goodnight, glass of milk on the sideboard, and the “Cat Fanciers Journal” next to his spectacles.

The inspiration for this image was a picture I had taken of a lion at Taronga Park Zoo and uploaded to RB over a year ago with the title Beautiful Boy
The vintage background was sourced as free stock from a Google search of vintage images. PSCS3
