Kite Ahoy

Kite Ahoy

I shot this in Bali. There was a local guy selling boat kites on the beach and he was flying his wares. I took several shots of it flapping around voilently with the sea in the background. A very gusty wind made it’s irratic path difficult to track. When I looked back through the shots this one stood out from the others. The boat is strangely pin sharp and dead centre with it’s hull is totally horizontal and therefor parallel to the horizon, giving the impression of cruising gracefully, not in, but above the sea. I was lucky enough to have the shot published on the front cover of issue 7 ‘Dumbo Feather, Pass It On’ magazine. See www.dumbofeather.com

i remember seeing this on an old Dumbo cover – but I missed out on that issue – which is bummer because this was the only cover design that I really really liked. I agree with toolmantim – I always thought this was a comp! love it…
