I like this. My brother is a printer and has to mix pantone colours. i don’t know how he does it. i have seen the books and it just looks far to complex for me !!!

thank you gregory… the book tells you exact proportions… but i don’t know why it is so hard for them to match colors… (i mean except for your brother… he does match perfectly, right? ;P)... when i used to go for the press checks, print technicians used to scatter and disappear as they sensed i was in the building… haha ;P

I watched my brother mixing pantone colours, and he was using scales that measured .001 of a gram. It is amazing to see what change just .01 of a gram of pigment can do. And then they are working on a scale where you might have to mix up kilos of the same colour !!

much respect to your brother and all other printers… but it’s all done by the machines… and that’s why it used to take up to 3 hours for my press checks…. my sister owns a silkscreen shop… she does her mixing by estimation… she eyeballs ‘em all… and always with beautiful results… :D
p.s. printers hate picky perfectionist designers like me… ;P
