i planned to do a drawing today
but a dream seeped in through a button hole
and brought the constellation
the broken moon
and the river along…
so
i made a sandwich with them…
and i’ll have a half for my lunch
and the other half for my dinner…

and the stars started to come out
he wrote a poem in his head
as he walked down towards the river
about a lion and how he ruled his jungle
she painted a dream in her head
as she skipped towards the river
about zebra stripes and button holes
where the dreams seeped in and out
when he reached the river
he saw his face in the water
and felt all mighty and proud
it stared right back at him
strong and with king’s eyes
even the river couldn’t wash it down
with wildest currents and tumbles
when she reached the river
she was drunken in its sweet fragrance
its mango scented love story
sang to her with prussian sky background
the constellation took its seat
and a symphony dressed the night
against deepest indigo
the moon sat at its piano
shiny with silver glow
but the moon was broken in half
and wore its sorrow
in slightly tinged alabaster
he looked up
and found the half empty moon
plucked it from the sky
and put it in the pocket
over his heart
“i’ll fill the other half for you”
he said to the moon
she looked in the river
and found the half full moon
scooped it out of the water
and poured it in her heart
“i’ll grow the other half for you”
she promised the moon
and the moon grew full again…

hi mimi – I’ve read this again so many times in the last day and I love it even more each time. There are certainly differences in the thoughts of man and woman . What surprised me then was that I identify more with the woman than the man in your beautiful piece. Even in saying that, I am not too sure whether I am surprised in myself or not. Beautiful work.
