    this is a great piece, mims. i love the colors and composition, but the most striking thing (IMHO) is the softer look you gave to her. it’s not quite manga, but it definitely has a more animated feel. really, really cool! :D

    thanx ray…. i knew you’d love the blue… and i agree with you about the anime look…. usually i work with burnt umber and forgot that blue (particularly this blue) does not wipe off as easily as the brown… she looked pretty darn good until i had trouble removing toned colors off the canvas… so i wiped wiped and wiped… and scrubbed tons…. and she wiped off instead of the blue (and i was thinking… darn~ i bet ray would like the blue)... after several try’s and redo’s, i gave up… and this is the last version of her… quite cartoon like…. : ) where are your po e m s ? ? ? : )

    Wow, this is beautiful. I love the blues contrasting with the red writing and the tiniest hint of pink in the face, gives the painting an almost electric feel. I also really like the mix of the quick sketchy brushwork in the under layers that set off the delicate portrayal of the face. Congrats
