mimi yoon replied
thank you daniel…. i struggled with this(the size of her)... wanted to include the entire head and at least one half of her arm… so i redrew(i do with a brush) 3-4 times, but i am seriously having problems drawing small… i did not get her down any smaller… may be she just didn’t want to be smaller… : )
thank you daniel… so much…. : )
p.s. i planned to do this with coffee too… completely forgot and did it with acrylic…

Work in progress?, looks excellent to me, how much better can it get, but I guess that’s where the excitement lies, evolution on canvas.
mimi yoon replied
now i’m afraid i may overwork it again… thank you so dearly, wayne… : )

Ha, sort of looks like coffee, i honestly thought that at first glance… well you could always do another work with coffee…
One great thing about this is it is instantly recognizable, even without the torch, or crown, or gown, or book…. so maybe that makes it that much better filling the space like this rather than fitting more in, but thats just my opinion, you are the artist.
mimi yoon replied
yes, i agree twice… i can do coffee art anytime… coffee’s readily available…i usually have a mug in my hand… any left over, i can even drink… ;P
and comp wise, this is much more dramatic and powerful… i decided to just go with it once i have decided that my subconscious mind will not allow me to paint a less dramatic image… : )
thank you daniel dearly… : )
Carol Berliner

I love it like that! We are so used to see it in its typical greenish tone. It looks very post modern, I love the way you’ve given it shapes with shades and very few whitish patches, I also love the paint drips, like its been covered by some rusty rain… Beautiful, you are so so talented Mimi!
mimi yoon replied
hi th~ thank you so much for your kind words…. guess what? i finished it today and i’ve given her a bit of weathered copper green… but only a bit…. please come back to see it once i post it….. thanx~ : )

Really enjoy your during-after postings, it’s very educational to see how it goes. Only once before in art school did I have a teacher actually demonstrate by doing a whole painting for us, quite marvelous!

Looking good Mimi! I really like the tight crop on her face. She is still immediately recognisable but being in close gives a more intimate feel.
mimi yoon replied
i agree with you 200%, matt…. truly appreciate your words… : )
