awesome dof, and the colour is so intriguing! im not sure if i want to dip my toes into it or stretch my fingertips to try and reach it. maybe ill do both, and then languish in my new skin :)
lovely lovely
mimi yoon replied
thanks lys… : ) you would just make a big mess that way… you should have seen me last night… covered in this after painting my rain… i still have it in my hair and nails… of course some on my favorite tank and jean… now it remains on the floor but dried… and dead.

paint stains are the remnants of the process. it is beautiful…
i often feel the viewer is missing the best part of a painting since they don’t get to see it being created. that part (the best part) is only for we who make them…
mimi yoon replied
may be some of us don’t want to share that (the best part) with the viewers… i don’t… most of the time… it’s like having a love affair… or making love to your subject and your canvas… i believe that it should remain intimate…

bleu rain brings green grass and pink flowers…......... b

mimi yoon replied
thank you kamel… always… : )

i feel the same. i like the fact that i keep the process for myself… i have videotaped myself working before though… is that like my paris hilton tape?
mimi yoon replied
:D you are putting thoughts into my head…. what were you wearing?

i’m a sucker for happy endings… even in the arts…...........b

i did a time lapse of myself when i was painting:
this one
this one

Looks like you better remove it before it stains!
mimi yoon replied
no david~ the floor’s beautiful with rain splatters… this bleu rain puddle dried and left a scrumptious swirl on the floor…
thanks~
Carlos Solorza
how beautiful this blue is surrounded by grey.
wow! great shot Mimi
mimi yoon replied
i love rain puddles… they make me happy… i used to purposely step in them as a child… though that was a long long time ago… : )
this is the prettiest rain puddle i’ve ever seen…
i splashed and splattered so much bleu rain on my last painting, this happened at the foot of the easel… i’m glad i caught it before it grew bigger and started run towards the drain.
thank you carlos… : )
David Roman
Oh didn’t know it was frozen in time well then thats better let it stay! looks great!
mimi yoon replied
i wish it froze as is in the picture… it grew bigger and bigger… and started to run towards the drain… now all that remains is about 4 inches wide dried blue tail from where i stood to paint to the big fat firestation drain….
thank you mr. david~
Earl McCall
Love this photo! Nice lighting and really great title!
mimi yoon replied
thank you earl… lighting is just the high ceiling fluorescent lights inside of my art school… : ) this is quite flattering coming from a photographer of your calibre… : )

i like to work more than one at a time… it’s scandalous. switching it up keeps me fresh ;)
may post it on youtube at some point…
mimi yoon replied
scandalous and fresh are the words… let me know if you post it on youtube… i’d love to see it… : )
scott allison
of course i will let you know! there are some moments in it that i will edit down where i take a break from painting and talk into the camera about stuff… seems i was mostly commenting about how narcissitic it was to film myself… i shot it at who knows what time in the middle of the night and was drinking pbr and smoking like crazy (i have since quit smoking… still enjoy the occasional pbr)...

I get alot of my inspiration from other artists and this inspires me. Finding art in the (sloppy) process of art.

it is the artist’s ability to put the a view such as this one into the right frame, with the right colors and field-of-depth. It is the artist’s ability to put the right story-telling and meaning. very very good work.
mimi yoon replied
as you do with your art…. these are some of the most inspiring words written to me, can… it’s heartfelt and i am so thankful… you are an amazing artist and a great wordsmith… thank you so dearly for the most beautiful and moving words… i appreciate you very much… x
