looks like more rain… beautiful (non-emo) sadness. It is hot and bright here. I can see the clouds on the horizon every day but the city heat keeps it from coming in… too much concrete :(

  • mimi yoon replied

    thanks scott~
you could be my twin brother… : )

  • mimi yoon

i’m the older twin and you are still the youngest : )

  • scott allison

    scott allison

...all my life i spend as the youngest and you take away my one opportunity to have a younger sibling… sigh haha!
I’m not worried we will begin to conform. We could collaborate though… that would be interesting.

  • mimi yoon replied

  • scott allison

    scott allison

ok big sister, do you like this plan:
I can build 2 small stubstrates out of wood so they can be mailed and start paintings on them and send them to you. We can send them back and forth until we feel they are done and each of us keep one when finished… the works becomeing seperated twins (us).

  • mimi yoon replied

    yes! love it!
emmm… what if they get over worked on? i know you’re quite a minimalist and all your works are very fresh. i usually finish a piece in 40 min to 1.5 hours… are we making an exception with these pieces? will two pieces be identical? never mind… we are fraternal so no need to be identical yet they should definitely be a set.

  • scott allison

    scott allison

perhaps they will require only one pass each so we can retain our fresh approach. Overworking them could ruin the outcome (usually does). I agree that they should be a set but not identical… perhaps continuous halves but able to stand alone as well.
So I will start them, send them to you, you work on them and send one back. Of course, we will have to post them together when finished.
Maybe we can start a collaboration group on here and get others to try similar experiments…

    mimi yoon

send me one for me to start… you start on the other piece… send each other what we’ve worked on… we finish each others… then send back… keep the piece we started but finished by the other… how’s that? but in order to make them a set, we will have to come up with a subject, I think.
or one project you start first then I finish… and the next one, I start first and you finish… ahhh, rain would be a good subject. : )

  • Nicholas Johnston

Mimi I love this, especially how you have put the bar code and the date into the painted image. It turns this painting into something else, into something more documentary than expressionist. Like it’s a disconnected picture seen on a surveillance camera.

  • mimi yoon replied

ooooo….. i love your interpretation a whole lot better than my art itself : ) as soon as i had it up without the date and the barcode, i realized that it needed something more… yes, to document the state of being (may be mine, may be not)... a disconnected or staticky picture of surveillance camera somehow fits perfect…

“disconnected surveillance” for title? what do you think?

    thank you nicholas~
    : ) mimi
