It’d be funny lookin perspective wise. Off the top of my head her arm would have to be very long. I think the place for an arm if any is at about 15 degrees to the upper arm as anyone would lie with the two hands nearly facing eachother or maybe angled towards the foreground a bit too. That’s even tougher to do though and I’m awful at hands so I wouldn’t dream of it. It’s looking good, you can pull it off. Maybe have a sleep.

  • mimi yoon replied

oooo… sooo technical simon… 15 degrees – her hair’s in the way… i thought of all kinds of options already… leave it as is? : )

i wouldn’t redraw the hand…maybe add some visual texture on the ground the figures are laying on…some stones or sand maybe. you can manipulate that texture to tie the elements together more.

  • mimi yoon replied

yeah… i thought about that too… may be some rain puddles too…
still thinking… thank you for the suggestion vincent!!

  • Karirose

    Karirose

i think the power of suggestion is already in the image… the hand is there already without actually being there :)

Perhaps the hand could simply be reaching out to him and not touching him? As if she’s almost found him—almost achieved the love she’s sought her entire life….

  • mimi yoon replied

    thanks steve~ tried that too… anatomically did not happen… : )

  • Robert Reeves

    Robert Reeves

ya, i’d keep it as is. the hand is implied. the space between the figures sets up a nice, simple spacial relationship. to add more, I think, would be to unnecessarily fill “the space between the notes”. or as my mentor used to say, “keep it simple, stupid”.
cheers, Mimi. great work as always

  • mimi yoon replied

    thank you rob… i agree… hope you’re well… doing better… keep on swimming!!!

    always, mimi

  • Symmetry44

    Symmetry44

See now I disagree with Rob. I don’t see the hand as implied. Perhaps had the left elbow simply been bent faceward so as to at least show the hand with the fingers in a reaching motion it would be more anatomically pleasing as opposed to the whole arm reaching out.
Perhaps to actual artists it is implied, but to those like myself who are not artists but writers I don’t see the connection. It just appears that there’s a beautiful lady lying behind a frog.
I mean mindfully I suppose I could make one distinction of many, but if there’s a message to be made I’m not getting it apart from your explanation.
Not to mention that to me the arm looks like it serves no purpose so you simply excluded it, whereas had you added it in some manner the intention would have been better spent.
    Just a thought from a guy….
    Peace…

    G’day Mimi,

I owe you a HUGE apolgy m’girl and I humbly ask for your forgiveness.

While my powers of observation are usually keen, I did not even notice the deck screws which combined with the shape give away what the item is.

To my untrained eye the artwork on this piece and the link you gave me is extremely good. It’s a shame that people will be treading all over them. 8-)

GB and all success to you.

Mimi I would like to see her left hand (fingers) pulling the lower lip down ever so softlly in a thoughtful, wanting, desiring type of feeling of I want him closer. Does that make sense?

  • mimi yoon replied

that would’ve been a perfect solution… it does make sense and sounds way sensual too… thanks ben~ : )

Personally, I’d like to see the other hand gently pushing her hair out of the way so she can see the frog better. Very delicately.

    If that makes sense….

  • mimmosso

    mimmosso

In my humble opinion, without the hand is better. There’s almost a sense of mystery with it the way it is..& it’s a little sexy as well.
BTW: You have an awesome portfolio of work.

If I were to add the arm it would have to be under her hair and right hand as if she were looking at her prince in a love struck gaze. Lucky Mac.
