Through macro photography of flowers and insects in my garden, at the nature center and at other nearby sites, I find great joy in rediscovering the beauty of the commonplace and the wonder of nature around us. I hope that admirers of my work will recognize the importance of protecting our natural world.
In April 2008 I had a solo exhibit at the gallery of the Phoenix and Dragon Bookstore in Atlanta. Also in 2008 I won 3rd place in the Chattahoochee Nature Center/Roswell Photographic Society’s Flying Colors photo contest. In 2007 I won 2nd place in the CNC/RPS photo contest that year, one of my photos was featured in Parade magazine and another was published in the digital Schmap Guide for Atlanta. My photo of my dog accompanied articles about Zoe Bear’s feats in February’s Reader’s Digest and July’s Roswell Beacon. I was voted best floral photographer on the photo-sharing site Flickr in 2005. I received several 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards and honorable mentions in photo contests in 2005 and 2006, and two of my photos were part of an Atlanta Audubon Society photography exhibit in 2006.
I currently shoot with the 12.1MP Canon Rebel XSi digital SLR, often with the Canon 60mm macro lens, and still use the 8MP Canon PowerShot S5 IS, which has the remarkable ability to go from super macro mode to 12x, image-stabilized zoom almost instantaneously.
If you see any photos on my Flickr site (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mimbrava) that you would like to purchase that are not yet in RedBubble, please let me know and I’ll add them.
