July is one of those times that causes one to pause and take stock of what’s going on.
Firstly, the financial year has ended so now comes the task of preparing the dreaded tax return (and trying to estimate how much can be “reasonably” claimed on expenses).
Secondly, it’s performance review time at work, so time to think of all the great things I’ve done over the past year; or at least enough to counter any low points!
Thirdly, and for me the most interesting cause to reflect, is that today represents an historic day in my RedBubble life.
Since I joined the community in March I have uploaded 28 images into my gallery and as of today they have accumulated 1,000 views exactly! Now I know this isn’t a spectacular figure by any means but it represents a milestone in my pursuit of a photographic career, and it also provides a suitable moment to reflect on and assess my progress so far.
Let’s start with some math. 1,000 views across 28 images is an average of around 35 views per image. Spread that across 4 months and it means each image is viewed, on average, once every 3-4 days. Nothing to get too excited about, right?
However, during that time I’ve also managed to achieve:
1 RedBubble homepage feature
2 sales
5 group features
32 favouritings
101 comments
These stats really get me stoked! It makes me feel that all the effort I put into sourcing, composing, capturing and editing images is justified and appreciated by my peers, and it will only encourage me to push myself harder to build on my success so far.
Anyway, that’s enough self-appreciation for one entry. It’s 5pm on a Friday and so time to sneak off to the pub!
Thanks for reading.
Cheers

so you joined redbubble in March and me at the end of February! I understand your celebration at 1,000 views as I was happy too when that happened for me.
Huge congratulations Milton, on your fine work including features and sales too. July, with it being the halfway point in the year, is indeed a great time to reflect and thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and accomplishments. Looking forward to seeing much more of your work and happy second half of 2009 to you!!! dBw ;)
