The Eureka Hotel. I spent quite a few Friday nights here in the mid 80’s with a Bubbler seeing bands that quite honestly were a lot better than whats around today.

I only do this for fun, coffee and a good laugh. I dont know about the technical side of photography or the " correct " methods of capturing images. I enjoy going out in the wee hours because its less likely anybody will approach and ask tecnical questions that I have no hope of answering.

I often wondered how they fitted some many people into such a small place, maybe it was a bit like the Tardis on Doctor Who, bigger on the inside than what it looked like from the outside

    :)

  • It was a bit that way I think? Allways room for one more paying customer.

I was a bouncer there about 9 years ago… licenced for 400 people… they would squeeze close to 800 in there on a Friday or Saturday night!!

It’s well lit at night, nice shot Campbell.

  • Thanks Peter. They packed em in 20 years ago. I bet you have some tales from your Doorman days?

Yep 27 years ago was the first time I entered thsi fantastic establishment! All I can remember was the matt black walls the cash register at the end of the hall and swinging from the light rails. And a big night on the gas would cost about $15.

  • How bout the room off to your right when you walk in with the crap dimmys and hot dogs. Pots were a buck and the most exotic thing they sold was that new Island cooler thing!!! LOL
