Most of the Israeli citizens have a reserve duty in IDF at least once a year.
My husband is an extremely peaceful person. That is how he looked one day, when he finally got home after a month of serving. He came back home – tired, happy, tan, with a watermelon in hands, and I realized that I must paint him! :-)

Thank you, Linda! My husband loves this picture too. He says that I captured his personality.

brings back memories of same. The reserve was a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends, get dirty and tanned and the return home was always a great ending.. You captured the essence of a wonderful image. Thanks for sharing with the Art of the Middle East group.
Mila Birger replied
Eyal, I am glad I was able to bring you back to the old times with this painting. :-)

Hey, You have done such a great work of art!! Your love towards both is evident. Very very nice! After doing so many water colors, I never dared to paint a full human figure, you do it nicely, thanks..
Mila Birger replied
Thank you so much, Arnene, for your kind words…

Wonderfully painted. You are talented. I love the look on his face.
I use to consult (computer applications) to a woman at a major cancer center in the U.S. She and her husband had come over and taken Ph.D’s here, and started working. Brilliant and beautiful; but I was amazed to learn at the time about the required reserve. I just couldn’t see her in army boots! But she was tough and went on to be the V.P. of the #1 computer maker at the time (and took me with her, consulting. Lucky me!)
It’s great that you captured this slice of life, not only because it’s your husband; but because it’s a fact of life in Israel.
Mila Birger replied
Thank you, my dear F.A., for such supporting comment!
I am glad my work arose nice associations and feelings. That is what art for, isn’t it? :-)
