Wonderland

I reach out
to grab hold of something solid,
immovable, real…
Slipping down Alice’s rabbit hole
plunging into Wonderland -
A parallel universe,
separate:
from all that is real and tangible
Too many places to recall at once,
immense:
Time and space interchangeable,
irrelevant.
Vision blurs,
head spins,
worlds collide,
thought subsides
I know this can’t be good –
being in too many places at once
scattered amongst fantasy
and reality
Longing freedom…
Mind tearing from body in a final
and desperate attempt
to escape this physical prison
The outcome?
Jet lag,
A headache,
Boredom?
Everyday life meaningless.
A chore.
Separate and distant,
Unable to eat, feeding on thought
alone -
elusive, short lived:
Like vapour
escaping the boiling fury
of
its
kettle…

Artist's Description

I wrote this poem with the intention to try and express how I feel sometimes when I think (which I do way too much of) and I feel that everyone can relate to it in way or another.
