mikoto Selling @ Paddington Markets - Saturday 6th October

After more than 9 months in development, I am going to be selling mikoto at Sydney’s Paddington Markets.

It has been an amazing journey that has already been educational, fun and rewarding.

The redbubble website has come along at just the right time for me, and has allowed this project go forward in a healthy and sure manner.

Redbubble has been amazing in helping analyse which design are most appealing. Comments give me the emotional and genuine feedback thats like listening to specific people and how they feel about a design. It is as if they are walking past a window display and you overhear the sentence or two that someone might say out loud to a friend.

Statistically redbubble has been awesome – seeing how quickly it gets viewed, how many times it is added as a favorite, and of course how many times (if any) a design has a sale gives me the real data that I have been able to take on board for future designs.

love the stats

All this information is valuable and is shaping what mikoto is and what it will be.

Occasionally the redbubble nerd/curator puts a design on the home page and I feel happy that my work is being appreciated and acknowledged by such a vibrant and popular website. It lifts my spirit and gives me encouragement.

Buying the shirts has been so cool. I can see how a design looks for real. wear it out and see what people say.

It has been instrumental in the application process of getting into the markets. I have a large number of shirts getting ordered with a Sydney based printing company using a number of special and experimental printing techniques. These were of course not ready in time for the interview. What were ready were redbubble shirts I had already bought. The selection committee were impressed with the shirts and the fact that they were made here in Australia by and innovative company using the latest technology really got their attention.

Mikoto has taken 9 months and it is like my baby. The first day at markets will feel like bringing a new born into the world. I don’t know how things will go, but after such fun on redbubble I feel confident that people will like it, and hopefully buy a shirt or a badge.

So if your in Sydney this Saturday or any other saturday make sure you drop in and say hi.

cheers

scotty

WOW thats great Scott, hopefully I can swing by and met you in person :)
It sounds like you have really done your research, and Rb has been a great place for that.I have worked at markets before and there is usually a very friendly/community vibe, but like all retail sales can be up and down espec. when it’s beach weather.
    Good luck YA

ooh good luck!!! Ive been asked several times now by several different organisations and hopeful customers to have my stuff at stalls, markets. But where do i start? How many of the tshirts should one have, what colours, what sizes? It all gets too much for me…. not to mention the initial outlay to buy the tshirts.. Would love to hear how you did it, how it went..etc..
