The Ascension Of Mikeyartscape (Dedicated To Josh)
It was the twenty-sixth day of January 2007 when curiosity found me climbing the stairs into a world of creative possibilities.
I did not know what lay ahead.
All intentions unknown I proceeded to check out this room at the top of the stairs whilst no other person was around.
I ascended the steep wooden stairs into the Buttery loft – a world of colour, energy and possibilities.
From my initial play with acrylics onto cardboard something magically happened that Australia day in 2007.
I was hooked unconsciously. Effervescent energy would carry me down those stairs and back to my room unknown to my therapeutic friends.
Words are truly descriptive and my art is another way of “talking” my thoughts and feelings up and out onto the blank canvas, paper, cardboard, plywood and anything else I exploit creatively.
My relationship with paint and the mediums I explored have all been part of a mammoth therapeutic experiment and journey of my Self.
I have yet to use a paintbrush.
Painting is tantamount to my own therapy and I see it as a powerful and personal way to express my innermost.
It invites others to look and listen.
Painting is healing and a deeper emotional level of connection is achieved.
Lines feature strongly in all of my work and represent insight and understanding.
It is a very magical-meditative process and space.
I dedicate this calender to my friend Josh – together we shared creative times in the loft and it was he who introduced me to RedBubble.
