Pulpit Base, Mezquita-Cathedral, Cordoba. by

The photograph shows the base of one of the pulpits in the Mezquita- Cathedral in Cordoba, Spain. The pulpit is supported on an Ox and an Eagle, the symbols of the evangelists Luke and John. A second pulpit is supported on an Angel and a Lion, the symbols of Matthew and Mark.
The pulpits are by Miguel Verdiguier (1706 – 1796) and are in the late Spanish Baroque style called Churrigueresque.
