On December the 1st 2008, Venus, Jupiter and the Crescent Moon came together and formed a unique shape in the sky – a smiley face!
This image was captured at Green Point, overlooking Brisbane Water, on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia.
It’s a HDR image made up of 3 exposures.

this is my favourite image of the conjunction.. i wish i took it :-)
can’t ask for a better sunset to go with it than that but you’ve done the levels and saturation nicely. will have to learn some HDR one day..
Lovely and colorful photo, very nice!
Thanks for your comments, much appreciated.
This was the last of the smiley face conjunction series that I actually processed – I almost didn’t bother at all and now it’s become one of my favourites too.
Simply gorgeous! Great sunset, and love the smiley face treatment. I saw it too, but there’s too much light pollution where I live for a decent capture.
did you capture it the night after when it was a sad face?!
LOVELY WORK YOU DO
Wow. Utterly gorgeous!
