This high-resolution view of the crater Clavius was taken on the 30th December, 2007 from the Central Coast of NSW.

It was photographed using my 12" Newtonian Telescope and a DMK21AU04 webcam.

The image is a mosaic of 4 frames, assembled and processed in Photoshop.

Read about the capture and processing, and see more crater images taken that night, here:

My name is Mike Salway and I’m an amateur astronomer and photographer.

I’m the co-founder of the Amateur Astronomy community site, IceInSpace, and my personal blog site and image gallery is at

I love high resolution planetary imaging and deep-space imaging using a telescope, and I love capturing wide field vistas that involve a lovely foreground scene combined with astronomical interest in the sky.
