Taken with a Canon 350D and Sigma 17-70mm lens.

This image was chosen as 1 of the top 10 great astrophotos of 2008 by Sky&Telescope magazine.

This image was featured on Astronomy Picture of the Day, 5th December 2008.

I love high resolution planetary imaging and deep-space imaging using a telescope, and I love capturing wide field vistas that involve a lovely foreground scene combined with astronomical interest in the sky.
