Opening of Derry Peace Bridge 25/06/2011- Derry Ireland
The Derry peace bridge opened at 2pm on 25/06/2011. Work took a year and half and cost £14 million for the footbridge, which connects the west bank to the east bank,. The bridge emerges from the Foyle River with run through Derry. It will significantly reduce journey times to and from the Cityside and Waterside by foot and bike.Construction work on the 235m long, four meter wide bridge began in January 2010 as part of the city’s regeneration programme, with funding from Europe.It will also be illuminated at night and it allows leisure craft to pass safely at high tide.
