Ahahahaha!! One track mind or what? Great docu-drama, Mike!! lol

  • Many thanks, Deb. These were picked from a set of 13, all shot in the space of 3 minutes, 1 second. He was one busy little critter. And the nice part was that no one came by, even though the Marsh was pretty busy that day.

Oh, Mikey! What an assortment of fits & starts. I can just see it… this guy/girl looks almost exactly like our current Red Resident ~ she is very wary of me, but she’s getting bolder. The Gray~Red kerfuffle goes on around the big Silver maple; Little Red (they are all either Little Red or Fits-&-Starts) chatters & delivers all manner of tirades, & chases ALL & sundry Grays EXCEPT for Lady Grey who sees LR as just what she is; an upstart. Literally. It is one solid hoot. While LR will go after all the other grays with a vengeance, & does get them moving, fast, Lady will move toward LR vaguely, which is enough to frustrate the Red utterly, causing cascades of NOISE NOISE NOISE NOISE. Congratulations on this fine set of Upstart Antics. Love them all!

  • LOL! Much appreciated, Sheila and thanks for the “fave”, too! This little guy was a little wary of me, but I used the “Stealth Mode” approach and he basically ignored me after that. As you say, these characters are usually pretty vocal, but not this time. The reds are pretty widespread at The Marsh, so there aren’t too many close encounters, and, surprisingly enough, the blacks and greys are a rarity. They haven’t invaded – yet! Meanwhile, back at The Sister’s, there is a constant battle underway, very similar to Lady Grey and upstarts with the odd very vocal Bluejay thrown into the mix, although I don’t think there’s a dominant one amongst the menagerie. I should record the antics for posterity one of these days.

Mike I absolutely love this depiction of this squirrel. They are such active and diligent little creatures. Oh that we humans should be that focused…… In their world this is an epic drama for sure. :>)) Leslie

  • Thanks so very much, Leslie. It was a lot of fun shooting this. The little guy was all over the place, non stop. I got tired just watching him! :o)

Sorry Mike I couldn’t resist such a lame comment
    Good shot mate
    Cheers Lee

  • LOL! Many thanks, Lee! He did seem a little frantic and at one point seemed to be having a wee meltdown! But his little rest worked wonders and he was all set to start all over again.

Superb title Mike – love it – what a cute capture. I watched a red squirrel for 20 minutes in a friend ‘s garden today – its antics were so much fun. But- I didn’t have my camera!!

  • Thanks so very much, Liz. They are a riot to watch, aren’t they? Pity about not having the camera with you. Isn’t it always the case?

    It’s a job, but someone has to do it. . . . .

  • And he was doing it well. I left a handful of sunflower seeds for him, just to make life a little easier. If he slowed down enough to find them, that is.
