The Bounty by Mike Oxley

St. Lawrence River, Summer 1996, at the Cornwall Harbour, Cornwall, Ontario, Canada.

From the website:

Known for a maritime mutiny that took place over 200 years ago, Bounty remains famous and infamous. Thousands cross her ample decks during port visits wondering what life was like then and now. You know her from her modern movies as well. In 1960, it was Marlon Brando as Fletcher Christian in Mutiny on the Bounty. Today, it is Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man’s Chest.
Built in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.

I am assuming this is a replica of that famous ship??

  • Thanks very much, Al. It is a replica and it was built in 1960 in Lunenburg, N.S. for the film “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Trevor Howard and Marlon Brando.

To be sent to the top of one of those masts, would be good reason to mutiny. Well maybe not. A good shot of an historic ship (or replica).

  • Greatly appreciated, FM. It’s a replica and it was built in 1960 in Lunenburg, N.S. for the film “Mutiny on the Bounty” with Trevor Howard and Marlon Brando.

Hey Mike, that’s a beauty! Great view of her, a lot less clutter than when she was docked in Halifax. Good show!

  • Thank you very much indeed, George. I also got some detail shots of the bow and stern which I hope to post soon.

Oh awesome!! How come this isn’t in CHPS??? What a fabulous shot!! They still have tall ship cruises out of Toronto near the Queens Quay, too! Only about 20 dollars for a 2-3 hour tour around Lake Ontario!

  • Thanks, Deb. Didn’t think it belonged – it was built in Lunenburg, but is a copy of a Royal Navy Ship. And it’s now based in Mass. U.S.A.
